For those of us who use makeup brushes on a regular basis, we know how they can wear and tear over time and why it is very important to keep them clean. Constant usage of these makeup brushes is unclean and can cause your skin to break out because of the built-up foundation, dirt, oil and other debris that it collects over time. Below I will share with you how to clean makeup brushes and keep them clean and fresh for a longer time.

So, if you don’t want to keep spending a lot of money to replace your brushes then find out how to make them look like new again.

1.   Run the brushes under warm tap water by separating the bristles with your fingers to thoroughly remove the built-up dirt and makeup trapped inside.

2.   Gently rub a clarifying shampoo to get a good lather on the brush and scrub gently until all the residue has come out. Note: you do not want to wash too hard or it might cause the brush to lose its shape.

3.   Rinse out all the suds with cool water until the water has turned clear, that way you know its fully cleaned and squeeze out the excess water.

4.   Use a washcloth to wipe away the water until it doesn’t drip anymore. You do not want soaking wet brushes to air dry it will take forever and will make the bristles hard.

5.   Lay the brushes down on a small towel to air dry.

That’s it, you’re done! Doing this about three to four times a month (depending on how often you use them) can prolong the life of your makeup brushes.
