1. Eat healthy – Eating healthy is not only beneficial internally but it shows on the outside too. A healthy diet of fruits and vegetables can do wonders for our health.

2.  Getting plenty of rest- Getting at least six hours of sleep can do a body good.  You can face the day so much better when well rested.  It also will eliminate that tired look that lack of sleep can give you.

3.  Drink plenty of water- Water hydrates our bodies, makes our skin glow and gives us plenty of energy. 

4.  Exercise- You can benefit greatly by doing small exercises daily.  It does not have to be strenuous hard core exercises (save that for the pros).  But enough to give you that boost you need to be healthy.  Exercise gives us a lot of energy so when you get used to it, it will come natural to us.

The Power of Antioxidants

     Everyone wants to retain their youth.  Some undergo plastic surgery to get that youthful appearance while others pursue for a more natural way to maintain that healthy look.  The answers can be found in the very foods we eat and the amazing ingredient they contain.
     These are called antioxidants.  But what are antioxidants and what can they do to keep you looking your best?  Antioxidants are substances that fight the aging process that goes on in your body.  They are not produced by the body so in order to get the benefit of these amazing substances you must ingest them.  There are many foods contain antioxidants.
     Our body continually renews its cells.  Through a process called cellular metabolism, the body produces energy, more cells and repairs any damage.  One by-product of cellular metabolism is unstable molecules called free radicals.
      Free radicals are molecules that damage your body.  They are unstable because they are missing an electron.  To get another one and become stable, free radicals will steal electrons from cells.  That theft damages the cells in different ways.  This type of damage results in negative changes to our bodies.  We start to develop diseases like diabetes, cancer, arthritis and neurological disorders that affects us as we grow older.  Free radicals enter our body from outside sources like: radiation, cigarette smoke and the sun’s UV rays.  The more free radicals we meet, the greater the damage can be done.
     Antioxidants have been shown to be beneficial in the help of free radical problem.  Antioxidant substances combine with free radicals and neutralize them.  Once they are neutralized, they can no longer cause any damage.  Scientists do not know specifically the recommended daily dose of antioxidants to correct free radical damage and the diseases that come with age, but they do know that eating foods rich in antioxidants makes a huge difference in our lives.
     Antioxidants are all around us.  Look no further than your local health food store or produce aisle in the grocery store.  Many fruits and vegetables are great sources of antioxidants. Examples of antioxidants include: Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta-carotene, Lutein and Lycopene.
      Antioxidants are also found in nuts, legumes, seafood, cold water fish and red meat.  So, eating a variety of fruits, vegetables and the proper foods just mentioned will increase the amount of antioxidants in our bodies and help reduce the occurrence of disease.  Eating fruits and vegetables in their raw form instead of juices brings numerous benefits of other nutrients found in the foods.  Juices also contain a lot of sugar that is not needed by our bodies.
     Natural substances found in antioxidants can cause us to live longer, stay healthier and keeps us disease free as we get older.
